Let those who are loved and revered be held to the same standards as everyone else. To those who still support and supported him--"CEZIDEK" --he would gladly sell us all for a Babylonian dollar. We should stop letting money and greed allow us to run away from ourselves while singing about it. Let's ring truth in the ears of hypocrites, parasites, and sons of mites.
I am a musician from the small communinty of Redway, California. This is the original home of grass roots movements to save our environment, support medicinal herbs, and of course --"Reggae on the River** I should let all reggae lovers know that I too have supported reggae music for most of the 35 years of my life. I've backed singers like Judy Mowatt, Iqullah, Little Hero, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, I Wayne, David Kirton, and many more...both local and interenational....I play guitar--and before reggae music deserves a mention, I am an all aorund lover of music and beauty in all art forms.
Last week I performed an artist--CHEZIDEK-- who I've backed many times before...Recently--I performed two shows in We A Dem band with this artist. One at the Mateel & on ein San Francisco. Neither show was settled with the band--and no band members recieved payment. Confusion from promoters and the artist aside. Chezidek--whom had paid the band hinmself once before-- ran from a San Francisco club called the Rockit Room without any love or concern for his backing band to be paid & (people know this ) he ran with the money after acknowledging he was to settle with the band...no matter how he felt about his own situation-- he cared not for his fellow man and robbed We A Dem. No concern that the band was to be paid and he came to the show at half past midnight--while promoters and people wondered why he made them wait so long...a shifty vibe came from the self proclaimed "herbalist "...slackness came in the form of a new tone from this artist who proclaimed he never wanted a backing band...a fight nearly persisted due to not letting cooler heads prevail...and this artist showed a slackness that I've whitnessed far too many times not to make these statments clearly. Reggae music is fast becoming cliches where singing songs and wearing style is revered over honesty and good heart. Let's take music back people. Dreadlocks and dark skin don't make you a rastaman. And what is the new defintion of rastaman to be--if his company becomes thieves and murderers??? not just reggae on the river is being hi-jacked--but reggae music, humanity, and what it means to respect your fellow man itself. Let's lead ourselves and not be lead by falseness and greed....people watch out....don't put these artists on a pedastool because you like the sounds....let actions speak louder than words. Boycott reggae with slackness.....they are here to rob you and leave you high and dry....
