Dancehall star Capleton has been removed from a huge Bay Area reggae show due to his homophobic lyrics, according to one source. Capleton was scheduled to perform at the Ragga Muffins Festival in Oakland on Saturday with other Reggae stars, including Cocoa Tea, Barrington Levy andGregory Isaacs, all legends in the reggae industry.

 Capleton had been "removed from the Festival(s) and will not be performing in Oakland next Saturday. He was also removed from our Long Beach and San Diego events..." said event promoter Moss Jacobs, according to the Bay Area Reporter.

Gay rights activists have recently discovered the hateful anti-gay lyrics present in the Dancehall community. Last year Buju Banton (recently prosecuted for cocaine possession) had his show protested in San Francisco by gay rights activists.

Dancehall is an aggressive form of reggae that fuels a worldwide industry. It is the rap to reggae's Blues, if yoy will. The show will still be a strong reggae show with the other acts, so I'd still recommend it. His manager covered him by saying he didn't say anything that wasn't in the Bible, so there.

Also, Michael Rose cancelled his Santa Cruz show, scheduled for the same night. His work visa was apparently rejected. Bad weekend for Bay Area reggae fans.
